Spencer Tunick
Spencer Tunick is an American photographer best known for organizing large-scale nude shoots. Since 1994 he has photographed over 75 human installations around the world. According to his website, Tunick focuses on the battle of nature against culture when it comes to his art. He uses a variety of backdrops including deserts, cities, parks, museums, and many other public settings. He has traveled all over the globe and has used thousands and thousands of volunteers to create art with his photography. Getting volunteers has been fairly easy for him because of the amount of people who have registered on his website to participate in his installations. Tunick's work also focuses on social, political, and legal issues which draws a lot of attention to his photograpghy. He has been arrested five times while attempting to work in New York due to the subject matter of his artwork. In order to continue making his art without the threat of him or his participants being arrested, Tunick has now taken his photography abroad. I was fortunate to do an interview with him where he talks about how social media plays a roll in career.
